Protect Your Smile Investment With Expert Care
Have you recently experienced swelling gums and nagging pains after dental implant treatment? If so, you need the care from an expert like Dr. Robert Kim, our restorative dentist in Chino Hills, CA. While dental implants are considered the “Gold Standard” for full mouth teeth replacement, you can still experience failing dental implants. Ensuring proper placement is crucial to implant success. Improper placement leads to implant failure. Without proper support, a prosthesis, or your bite isn’t properly adjusted, causing an unequal distribution of pressure.
Another common cause of dental implant failure is trauma on an implant. If you’ve suffered excessive force, this can result in prosthetic fracture, bone loss, infection, and complete failure of the implant(s). However, Dr. Kim specializes in dental implant restoration. He can assess your situation and remove the implant, if necessary. As an implant expert, our dentist combines skill and technology to replace your dental implant—and do it right. If you notice signs of failing dental implants in Chino Hills, CA, don’t the treatment you need. We can save your smile!

Targeted Treatment for Failing Dental Implants
The majority of failing implants require removal and implant replacement. After an evaluation and X-rays, we will discuss all treatment options with you. But in most cases, if the implant hasn’t improved with peri-implantitis treatment and bone grafts, this is the best option to restore your health and function, reducing your risk of a serious infection.
Dr. Kim will work with you to determine the best course of treatment. There are two techniques available for removing a failing dental implant from your bone. The first one consists of removing a small portion of bone. Our dentist places a piezo-electric device around the edge of the implant for easier removal. Another option is using “reverse torque” to remove the implant from the bone. In either case, our goal is to keep you comfortable with sedation dentistry while preserving as much of your natural bone as possible. By doing so, we ensure predictable and lasting implant success in the future.
